Description

I have never taken an image of this before, and it was a very difficult object to choose. I underestimated things! One of the problems was the lack of data in both Ha and OIII, mainly because of high cloud floating across many subs. I actually bought Star Xterminator just prior to imaging this, and it was a lifesaver. I do not think I could have processed this without it, and whilst I have not done a side by side comparison with Starnet2, which I often use, I think this AI empowered software is better. This was 52 Has and 48 OIIIs, each sub at 4 minutes exposure time - my hope was actually for about another 20 subs per filter. This equates to an integration time of 6 hours and 40 minutes. I am really pleased with the image because it is a bit different than standard nebula pictures, and because it required quite a bit of inventive thinking to bring forth the data enough, without overly stretching it and thus wrecking the image in the fainter regions. I fully intended to take the SII data of the eagle nebula that I was working on from the other day, but the wind was too strong for the RC - maybe tonight though?! Thanks everyone. Simon
